ASSEMBLING THE WORLD’S ELITE IN SPORTS SCIENCE
Prof. Dr. Duško Bjelica, President of the Montenegrin Sports Academy (CSA) from Podgorica, announced that partnership agreements have been signed for the organization of the 22nd Diamond Scientific Conference in Cavtat with seven higher education and scientific institutions, four of which are from European Union countries. These partners include: the Faculty of Sport in Ljubljana (Slovenia), the Faculties of Kinesiology from Zagreb and Osijek (Croatia), the Faculty of Sport at the University of Prešov (Slovakia), the Faculty of Science and Education at the University of Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education at the University of Pristina (Kosovo), and the University of Sport in Tirana (Albania).
Furthermore, Prof. Bjelica stated that these institutions will provide scientific support in organizing the prestigious scientific summit titled “Sport, Physical Activity, and Health – Contemporary Perspectives.” This conference has been traditionally held for the twenty-second time, with sixteen previous editions taking place in Montenegro, in the cities of Bar, Kotor, Tivat, Herceg Novi, Podgorica, and Budva. For the sixth consecutive time, it will be hosted in Cavtat at Hotel Croatia, near the renowned city of Dubrovnik, further emphasizing the strong position of the Montenegrin Sports Academy in the field of sports sciences.
Prof. Bjelica, who is also the editor of internationally recognized scientific journals Sport Mont—indexed in the prestigious Scopus citation database—and Montenegrin Journal of Sports Science and Medicine—listed in the world’s leading Web of Science (WOS) database, making it the highest-ranked regional journal in sports sciences—emphasized that these journals will continue to publish research by scientists from renowned institutions worldwide. The most outstanding research presented in Cavtat will also be published in these journals. Additionally, the long-standing partner in organizing the conference from Montenegro is traditionally the Montenegrin Olympic Committee.
During the conference, a dedicated medical session will be held under the title “A Multidisciplinary Approach to Lifestyle Management in Chronic Patients.” This session will be specially designed and led by Prof. Dr. Jernej Pajek, an internal medicine and nephrology consultant from the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana, and Dr. Marijana Gets Kesić, a program assistant from the University of Split. Simultaneously, an advanced doctoral school will be conducted by Prof. Dr. Ahsen Bujukaslan from the Faculty of Health Studies in Istanbul, specializing in physical therapy and rehabilitation (Turkey), and Prof. Dr. Damir Sekulić from the University of Split, one of the editors of MJSSM.
The Montenegrin Sports Academy (CSA) has stated that negotiations are still ongoing with several prestigious higher education and scientific institutions, as well as a select number of the world’s most significant sports scientists, to further elevate the profile of the 22nd Diamond Scientific Conference.
